We would like you to take note of the following:
- We are not a business. There is no workshop or visiting areas. We exist to bring together experience and expertise about the Linn Sondek LP12 turntable. The LP12 fundis we refer to here are individuals who all have fulltime jobs. Some work in the audio and video industry, others do not. They do what they do because of their passion for music. We do not pay them. We are just a point of contact. If they render you a service, then payment terms are between you and them.
- Pre-owned items (parts, turntables, and vinyl records) advertised on this website are supplied by the sellers. We do not have any control over the quality of the product(s) or how they are sold. Please refer any queries to the seller.
- The advice offered by our LP12 fundis originates from their own experience. Our LP12 fundis will offer advice based on what you tell them, or do repairs based on what they see is wrong with your turntable. You can trust them, or take your unit to a recognised Linn dealer for assessment. Spoiler: There are no recognised Linn dealers in South Africa other than the main distributor.
- Many of the spares and kits shown here are third-party products. There is a massive market out there for modifications. Some of them are really good. Some of them may be attempts with limited success. Examples include power supplies and motors from other manufacturers; or suspension kits from enthusiasts that have experimented extensively. Most LP12 turntables are much older than their warranty will carry them, so you are free to tweak as you like.
- We are not allowed to use the official Linn logo on the website as we are not an authorised dealer. However, if the Linn logo appears on a photo of the product, then it will be displayed that way.
- We are not in any way associated with the official Linn distributor in South Africa.
Photos
We try to use our own stock photos, but you will understand that it is not always feasible to take apart a turntable just because you want to show a part to illustrate a point, in which case we will source what appears to be a generic image of the part. Many of the photos show the website developer's own LP12 as it was easy to take them. Note though that this does not mean the website promotes the particular specifiation (For instance the website developer's own LP12 with Valhalla power supply, Ittok tonearm, and Benz Micro SL Glider MC) over others. It just happens to be a very popular combination, excluding the Benz Micro, and it happens to be the developer's unit, so I can freely take photos without asking anyone's permission.
Cooperation
This is an incredibly small and niche market, especially in South Africa. Instead of finding ways to rip it apart just to get your way, let us rather cooperate for the sake of the hobby we all love.
